Just before 7 a.m. -- all chop and grey

I rowed like I was made of china this morning. An unfortunate and all-too-intense erg session had my back in knots. Still, it had been weeks since I'd been on the water so, as the saying goes, I just had to suck it up and go.

Unfortunately the water was bouncing and rolling like a duffel bag of puppies and there was no rhythm to be found in the waves. Super short strokes. Super strong focus on just keeping my core engaged and protecting said back.

And then it was like someone busted out an iron and smoothed out all the bumps and lumps. What was chop turned to glass. My back relaxed, the strokes got longer, and the sky genies did their magic.
